KonferenzankündigungOnlinekonferenz: Global Religion and the Climate CrisisPerspectives from Practical Theology and Religious Studies in International Discourse
17. Juni 2024

The global crisis of climate change challenges scholars to critically reflect on the relationship between religion, nature, and sustainability. For any theory of this cross-cutting issue, which affects religion in its multidimensionality and diversity of forms, the unprecedented crisis poses a litmus test.
Six equally important threads are the focus of the conference:
A: »Activism or Escapism?« Public Religion and the Climate Crisis
B: »Greening the Pulpit!« Liturgy, Preaching, and Religious Rituals
C: »Rethinking our Research Critically and Creatively!« Concepts and Methods in Religious Studies and Theology in the Anthropocene
D: »Apocalypse Now!?« Climate Anxiety in Pastoral Care and Popular Culture
E: »God in Nature and High-emission Church Buildings« Eco-Spirituality, Material Religion, and the Climate Crisis
F: »Global Religion and Global Crisis!« International Religious Relations between Conflict and Cooperation − Postcolonial Perspectives
Hosts: Prof. Dr. Jeane Peracullo (De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines), Assistant Prof. Dr. Felix Roleder (University of Hamburg, Germany), Marko Jesske (University of Erlangen)
