University worship services
The University worship services take place almost every two weeks during the winter and summer semester lecture period at the principal and university church St. Katharinen (Katharinenkirchhof 1, 20457 Hamburg) in German.
The services are prepared by a seminar led by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Kristin Merle, with several students, many but not all of whom are studying protestant theology. Each semester, the university worship services address a different, socially relevant topic., e.g., "Seek the prosperity of the city" (winter semester 2019/20), "Gender Trouble? religion_produces_gender" (winter semester 2020/21), "Bye bye, white pride?" (winter semester 2022/23) or "What's Your Mission?" (winter semester 2024/25). Since the summer semester of 2021, the university services have been live-streamed via YouTube and, therefore, recorded; you can find them in the German-speaking homily archive together with German PDF files for the preachments of the previous series.
If you'd like to attend a university service in person, you can find further information and current dates on the German-speaking website.
